It’s guaranteed to be an exciting year at the U.S. Open.
The USTA has introduced two experimental rules that will add a new dimension to the game.
First, players will be subject to a new “shot clock” that will add a lot of pressure, limiting players’ time warming up and during medical time outs.
Second, coaching will be allowed from the side of the court.
Things could get very interesting. Players are now allowed to communicate verbally with coaches when they’re at the same end of the court. And if they’re at the opposite end, they can communicate using sign language.
