We’re here to help you find the best ways to spend your time in New York City. So, as we encounter these warmer days together, with each post we’ll let you know about upcoming events, shows, festivals, and opportunities in the city this summer.
This year, the Brooklyn Film Festival takes place from June 2 – 11 with dozens of film premieres, industry panels, and special screening events. And now there’s even a way for kids to get involved, as BFF has added KidsFilmFest to their program.
That’s one of the family events you can enjoy in June. Looking for some outdoor adventure? We also have some outdoor shopping opportunities to tell you about. There’s even a map!

Brooklyn Film Festival: kidsfilmfest
KidsFilmFest discovers and promotes the latest films for children. It’s a new initiative of the Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF). All films are rated “G”, and you can expect to see features ranging from short animation to live-action to documentary. Plus, a question-and-answer session with the filmmaker usually follows each presentation.

Chelsea Flea Market
When: Every Saturday & Sunday, 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: West 25th Street, between Sixth & Broadway
Getting there: It’s about three miles south of Hotel Belleclaire.
Nolita Flea Market
When: Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from March to December 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Prince Street between Mott Street & Mulberry Street
